Dear HR Professionals,

Kindly help me in framing a training policy for my organization, which is basically a manufacturing/engineering company. I am looking for some data to frame a training policy for fresh technical graduates. Our organization will be providing a platform for 3-6 months of technical training after their graduation.

Kindly assist me.

Thanks,
Shalini

Hi Shalini,

Please refer to the below-mentioned points for drafting a training policy:

1. Introduction: Write a few lines on the importance of training. Training and development require the same rigor and attention as any other management task. Well-managed training and development can deliver people with the right skills at the right time to enable the organization to deliver strategic results.

2. Purpose & Scope: Write the objectives of the training that will be imparted to the employees.

3. Applicability: To whom it applies.

4. References & Definitions: References to other policies or documents that might be mentioned in the policy. Define the technical terms used.

5. TNA - Jot down the methods that will be used for conducting Training Needs Analysis.

6. Training Material: Mention where all the training material or content will be derived from. In the case of internal content development, mention who will approve the content created. Mention the Training Curricula, i.e., what types of training will be imparted, whether soft skills, sales, technical, or all.

7. Mode of Delivery: Mention what the mode of delivery will be, i.e., online, classroom, or on-the-job.

8. Costing

9. Documentation: What kinds of reports and documents will be maintained and for how long they will be kept.

10. Training Feedback & Evaluation: Include any specific benchmarks for trainers, any assessments that might be conducted after the training to judge the participants' knowledge.

11. Training Environment: Describe the seating arrangements in the training room, whether whiteboards or projectors are required.

12. Tracking, Training, & Certification: Explain how training imparted will be tracked (any specific software to be used or not), or if hard copies will be maintained. Describe how employees' performance will be tracked and whether employees will receive a certification after the training.

13. Training Department Support System: Outline the responsibilities and coordination required by different departments, trainees, and management.

14. Checklist for Training: List all the materials that will be required, such as manuals, whiteboards, markers, projectors, computers, water bottles, etc.

15. Lastly, list the templates or forms that will be used in training, like nomination forms, attendance forms, training feedback forms, etc.

Hope this will be of some use to you. If you need any further help, do let me know.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Suci,

I will forward them by today itself. Just one more question: which kind of industry are you associated with, and what is the age group of people working for the company, and the total number of employees on the payroll?

Cheers
