Hi Arora,
At the Assistant Manager level, you may have to supervise some junior functionaries. You need to have good knowledge of recruitment, developing systems, and procedures for senior management. You need to be a good communicator. You already have four years of experience in HR. Your experience will stand you in good stead.
Advance good wishes for success in your interview and for a full bloom in your career.

I would like to share some of my views over here....
So, what is the basic difference between an EXECUTIVE and a MANAGER?
An Executive is the one who implements things, and a Manager is the one who manages things. A person can become a manager if he has experience, yes, right, but can he survive with the experience? I mean to say, what does an employer expect from an experienced candidate?
To answer it simply, ACCOUNTABILITY is the APT word according to me.
So, what does this ACCOUNTABILITY actually mean?
If you are an executive and working on an assignment and unfortunately, if things are not working according to the expectations even after efforts, you have your MANAGER to take it ahead and answer to the management. So, now, would this be easy for a really spirited manager to say, "NO, I am somehow unable to do it successfully"?
If he is a spirited manager, I don't think that he can answer it with ease as his executive does. The reason being, an EXECUTIVE is still in the learning process and might not know as many ways as an experienced person does. So, if you have learned the ways in these years of experience and can guide your team, then you can be a MANAGER.
This is what I think is the QUALITY for a person to be a MANAGER.
So, the basic quality would be ACCOUNTABILITY for everything he does and his team does.
Also, I would like experienced people and professionals here to comment on the qualities that managers have in the present corporate scenario.
Expecting as many responses and different viewpoints.
Regards,
Kiran.

Actually, there was a typo, it should be "Also, I would like experienced people and professionals over here to comment on the qualities that a manager SHOULD have in the present corporate scenario." Please excuse me for the mistake...
