Hi,

I would like to understand how you deal with alcohol in the workplace - either coming to work under the influence of alcohol or consuming alcohol in the workplace. I would be keen to understand how IT/ITES companies address this issue and what kind of disciplinary action is taken.

I do not think that any establishment will allow anyone to report to duty after consuming alcoholic drinks or permit the consumption of alcoholic drinks while on duty. If found under the influence of alcohol, disciplinary action including dismissal from service shall be initiated against the employee. Therefore, if someone is found drinking on duty, take them to the hospital and conduct tests to prove that they were intoxicated before taking further action.
