Nanjegowda: Hi, How are you and Where do you work. With regards/Nanjegowda
Avika: Normally, no registration is required for a sole proprietorship concern.

You should check the shops & establishments law applicable in your state and get registered if it is required. every state has different laws for shops & establishment.

You can enter into agreements with clients in your personal capacity in a sole propritoship model, please.

    sasmita_deepa: Hi Avika,

    Thanks for the info.

But as you have said no registration is required, then how can I get into legal agreements with clients and moreover how is the firm recognized.

I heard from someone that we need to register it under Establishment Act under local Labour Office by filling in Form I for registration. Let me know if this is correct.

    sasmita_deepa: Hi Avika,

    Hope you are doing well.

I just came across many of your posts in CiteHR and I feel you can guide me with proper info.

I am planning to start a firm providing consulting services, website development and data entry services.

I want to go for Sole Proprietorship registration. Now my question is
Can I register this business under proprietorship and then later change it to Pvt Ltd?
Can I run proprietorship business with clients across India or I need to focus only in the state where it is registered?
If registered under Establishment Act then is the firm recognized nationally?
What are the other documents needed

Appreciate if you can pls guide me in this case as I am not getting proper info from anyone.

    pbetai: Dear Avika,

Can you brief us about converting our Prop. construction firm into a Pvt Ltd Co. We are located in Mumbai.
    Kind regards
    Premal Betai
