Confused About Casual Leave Policy? Why My 19 CL Balance Might Disappear!

neite25
CL cannot be encashed. All CL will lapse on 31-Dec. I'm wondering how you could get a 19 CL balance 🙄.

Dear All,

Please guide me if an employee is leaving the company and has 19 CL balance. Can the CL be encashed in the full and final settlement?

Dear Sender,

CL accumulation will vary from company to company. In certain companies, CL can be allowed to accumulate for 2 years.

Normally, CL cannot be encased and also cannot be accumulated as well. Some companies may allow employees to accumulate CL up to a certain limit, but it is not mandatory.

Dear Shahzad,

As far as I know, according to labor law, CL will not be encashed but forwarded to the next year. I think you might be confusing PL with CL, as no company allows CL more than 12 days.

Dear HR,

CL cannot be accumulated and does not need to be paid out upon leaving the company.

Dear,

It depends on company policy. It varies from company to company. Most companies do not encash casual leave (CL), but some companies carry forward the CL, so the balance can be more.

Leaves which are earned under the definition of Clause 79 of the Factories Act are only encashable. This type of leave is generally referred to as Earned Leave or Privilege Leave. Casual Leaves are given to meet the unexpected exigencies of personal work and generally lapse at the end of the year.

Dear Parwez,

Neither the CL can be accumulated and carried forward to the next calendar year, nor can it be encashed either being in service at the end of the year, even if a single CL remains balance or at the time of leaving the service.

Thank you.

Best regards

Hi,

CL cannot exceed more than 12 days in a year. It is entirely the company's policy whether they can be carried forward or not, but generally, it is not a common practice.

PL can be accumulated and encashed after the accumulation of a certain number of leaves. As per the act, PL should be 1 day for every 20 days of working, but to be eligible for PL, an employee must complete 240 days of work.

Please ensure you are not mistaken regarding PL or CL.

No labor act mentions about CL at all. Can you please tell me where it is written that CL cannot be encashed or that it will lapse after 31st of December? Eagerly waiting for the answer.

Regards,
Manasi
