Competency Mapping in Training & Development: How Does It Really Make a Difference?

kalyankanuru
Hi, everybody. Can anybody help me get some information on competency mapping and how it will be effective in the Training & Development process?

Dear Chakri,

I have been helping organizations and individuals discover their competencies and determine those that are required for job performance, thereby helping to fill the gaps that arise.

Please find attached an article on "Why Competencies Matter?"

If you need any further information, do let me know.

Hi Chakri,

'Competencies' are defined in domain-specific terms, meaning a particular set of qualities that may be effective in specific situations. You can consider it in the following form:

Effectiveness = function of (Perception, Attitude, Domain Knowledge, Learning, Organizational parameters...)

Organizational psychologists are concerned with attributing the 'human' factor of 'potentially effective' skills required to complete a job effectively. If you tell me which area of training you are currently working in, I may be able to offer some assistance. There are many inventories available, but each works in a different set of circumstances.
