According to this Act:
1. An employee who works on a National or Festival holiday is entitled to wages at a rate of twice his ordinary rate of wages (double pay).
2. In addition to the double wages, the employee is also entitled to avail a substituted holiday with wages at the ordinary rate, within 90 days from the date of the National or Festival holiday on which he/she had worked.
3. If an employee is denied the substituted holiday or wages, he/she can approach the labour authorities for redressal of their grievances.
Please note that these provisions are applicable to all industrial establishments in Kerala, including factories, plantations, shops, and commercial establishments.
