The safety of workers in the automotive industry continues to be a concern as the number of injured workers has seen a 35 per cent year-on-year increase, rising to 1,256 in 2024 from 926 in 2023. This data was revealed in a report released by the Safe in India (SII) Foundation on Friday. Of these, 875 workers reported crush injuries, specifically the loss of their fingers, in 2024. This represents a 15 per cent year-on-year rise from the 759 crush injuries reported by workers assisted by the SII in 2023.
