The Factories Act, 1948 requires companies to maintain several statutory records, including:

Register of adult workers: Also known as Form 17

Overtime register: Also known as Form 9

Register of compensatory holidays: Also known as a record of compensatory holidays

Register of accidents and dangerous occurrences: Also known as Form 26

Muster roll: Also known as Form 29

Register of leave and leave book: Also known as Form 15 and Form 16

Humidity register: A record of humidity levels

Record of lime-washing painting: A record of lime-washing and painting

Record of examination of pressure vessel or plant: A record of examinations of pressure vessels or plants

Running a factory without a license and registration is a punishable offense under the Factories Act, 1948. The penalty is a fine of up to one lakh rupees, two years in prison, or both.
