Dear Shruti Arora,
Sufficient information on designing the Career Development Plan (CDP) is available on the internet. There are also videos on YouTube that you can watch to help with your CDP design. Consider subscribing to the paid services of
www.mindtools.com for a more comprehensive version of the CDP.
However, what happens after filling in the blanks in the CDP template is crucial. Successful execution of the CDP requires the individual's interest, support from their Head of Department (HOD), follow-up from the HR Department, and most importantly, commitment to development demonstrated by top leadership. Without proper execution, even a well-designed CDP may not yield the desired results.
In addition, career development activities should align with retention measures. Otherwise, if a well-developed employee leaves the organization and joins a competitor, the competitor could benefit from the investments made in the employee's career development.
Thanks,
