How Do You Handle First-Year IT Students Leaving Without Notice and Bonus Obligations?

As a proprietor with around 30 employees in the IT sector, most of whom are first-year students responsible for preparing HTML pages, I often encounter a situation where they come and go without providing any notice. Even though they sign the "Joining Form" acknowledging all the rules and regulations of my small office, I find myself questioning whether I always need to secure their resignation. While I can manage this task most of the time, there are instances when it becomes challenging.

Furthermore, I am uncertain about whether I am obligated to pay a bonus of 8.33% to these individuals who, at times, display ingratitude, especially if they have been employed for more than 30 days.

Employee Retention and Legal Obligations

Retaining employees is solely your responsibility, and no law dictates that an employee cannot leave an establishment. Even a notice period or notice pay from an employee's side is illegal. However, if they demand a bonus, you are obligated to pay it. Nonetheless, after only 30 days of attendance, the bonus would be minimal.

Reducing Attrition

To reduce attrition, I recommend recruiting only those who have completed the course, rather than admitting first-year students who may view the job as merely a means to earn some extra money to meet their financial needs, such as supplementing their pocket money or covering the cost of gifts for their girlfriend.
