Feeling Unfairly Treated with Leave Approvals? How to Address Bias at Work

Lifeisgud
In my company, one has to apply for PL 15 days in advance. I applied for it 40 days before, and another employee also applied around the same time, about 20 days prior. However, my boss accepted his leave and not mine. When I asked why, he randomly said he approved one and rejected the other. On another occasion, he sanctioned another employee's leave, i.e., PL, which was applied for just 1 day before. I feel that he is biased. What remedy do I have? Please guide.

Legal Remedies for Leave Sanction Bias

There is no legal remedy because the right of your superior to sanction leave cannot be questioned. For him, your absence may cost more than the other person's absence. He may be biased, but you cannot prove that he is biased. If this persists, you can decide to change the employer.

Hi, In the normal course, PL leave should be applied for one or two weeks in advance. In some companies, employees tend to avail themselves with very short notice.

Sanction of Leaves

The sanction of leaves is at the discretion of the superior or reporting authority based on the work. There should not be any personal bias. However, when you are planning for leaves, discuss with your boss and then plan.
