How Can Companies Support Female Employees Undergoing IVF Without Extra Costs?

Kenneth Dias
Is there a provision in any organization for leave or any other benefit for female employees undergoing the "In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)" process? If not, what would be the ideal way in which an organization can support their female staff, without involving any additional financial implication on the organization? I would sincerely appreciate some views on this.

Hi, I don't think there is a separate statutory provision for this. However, it is up to the respective organization to grant leave with pay or without pay and help the employee undergo the treatment peacefully. Once pregnancy is confirmed, maternity benefits will be applicable.

Hi, an organization can consider either granting leave or providing sufficient breaks/permission from work as a special case.

Dear Kenneth Dias, In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a type of assisted reproductive technology (ART) where sperm and an egg are fertilized outside of the human body. IVF is a complex process that involves retrieving eggs from ovaries and manually combining them with sperm in a lab for fertilization. Several days after fertilization, the fertilized egg (now called an embryo) is placed inside a uterus. Pregnancy occurs when this embryo implants itself into the uterine wall. Organizations are concerned with the woman employee's eligibility for maternity leave. Since the woman becomes pregnant, she is eligible for maternity benefits. The method of pregnancy does not matter.

Thanks,
