Sir, I have completed my job at the SIPL plant in Purulia, WB, for 5 years and 6 months. Now, at the age of 62, I am willing to retire from my job. Am I entitled to receive gratuity from the organization? When I joined the organization, I was 57 years old.

Looking forward to your kind suggestions.

Hi, I hope you have served as a regular employee without any breaks in service. If so, you are eligible for Gratuity.

As per the Payment of Gratuity (PG) Act, you are entitled to gratuity if you have 5 years of continuous service, regardless of your nature of job (regular or otherwise), designation, etc.

If the employer refuses to pay gratuity, you can approach the controlling authority under the PG Act to claim your gratuity.
