Feeling Trapped by Fake Promises: How Should I Handle My Company's Notice Period Demands?

arun-chezhian
Hi, I resigned from my job, and there was a 3-month notice period. After serving 2 1/2 months, my company promised me that they would change my shift timings to the day if I revoked my resignation. So, I revoked my resignation. (I had the best offer in my hand at this time, and I rejected that offer because of this fake promise given by my company). There was an opening on the day shift, but still, they didn't move me; instead, they told me to convince someone else so they could move me to that shift. I waited for 2 months, and I completely lost hope.

I resigned again, and now they are telling me to serve another 3 months of notice.

Basically, I think they are giving fake promises to make a senior person in the company stay until a junior can handle the responsibilities.

What should I do? Please suggest.

Hi, This is regarding the act of exploiting. At the time of canceling your resignation, you should have written, "canceling my resignation based on the assurance of the employer for a permanent shift change." You can talk to HR and politely explain that asking for another 3 months' notice is not appropriate.

HR also mentioned that what I am asking for is correct, but my head manager is not allowing it. I don't know what to do.

While rescinding my notice, I have stated the following:
"As you promised to grant me that shift, I am withdrawing my resignation letter."

Hi, You may file a complaint with your jurisdiction's Labor Officer. However, the company will also defend itself, and they may retaliate with false allegations. It is advisable to communicate with your reporting manager and request an amicable solution.
