Hello everyone, I want to confirm the calculation of salary. Suppose the salary of an employee is around 50,000 per month. How to calculate salary for different month lengths? How do we calculate the salary for a month with 30 days? How do we calculate the salary for a month with 31 days? How do we calculate the salary for February, which has 28 days in Pakistan?

If the company calculates my salary as 50,000 per month on the 31st day of every month, and in September, I have worked for a full month of 30 days, why is the salary deducted? For instance, the salary per day is calculated as 1,612.9, and the salary for 30 days amounts to 48,387.0. However, if I have worked for the whole month, why is there a deduction? Please tell me the correct method of calculation.

The salary is paid for the full month, irrespective of the number of days in the month. Wages are calculated by multiplying the wage per day by the number of days actually worked.

How do we calculate the salary for the 30-day month? 50000 * Number of days (Payable) / 30 = Salary amount (50000 x 29 / 30) = 48,333

How do we calculate the salary for the month with 31 days? 50000 * Number of days (Payable) / 31 = Salary amount (50000 x 28 / 31) = 45,161

How do we calculate the salary for the 28-day month? 50000 * Number of days (Payable) / 28 = Salary amount (50000 x 26 / 28) = 46,429

Dear Mr. Suresh, When calculating wages/salary, Sundays should not be included. Therefore, only 26 days are considered.

Calculation of Working Days
In a year, the total number of days is 365. Total Sundays are 52. The balance working days are 313 days, which, divided by 12 months, equals 26.08 days. This can be rounded down to 26 days.

Hence, for all months, whether January, February, or April, 26 days should be considered.

Salary Calculation Method
Divide the monthly salary by 26 and multiply it by the number of days present. You can also provide justification to your management/employees accordingly.

What formula do you employ for employees who work five days a week? Is it 365-104=261/12=21.75 days, i.e., 22?

As an example, suppose an employee earns Rs. 26,000/- per month, and his daily wage is Rs. 26,000/26 = Rs. 1,000 per day. If he is absent for one day in September, his salary for the next 25 days will be Rs. 25,000/-. When divided by the number of days in September, he will receive a salary of Rs. 26,000*29/30 = Rs. 25,133.

As the MW is inclusive of weekly offs and payable for a full month's presence, the 26-day divisor is used to arrive at the daily wage under the Minimum Wage Act.

Salary is to be paid based on the average number of months, which is 29.6, considering each month to have 30 days for the whole year.
