Seeking Advice on Job Relocation Request Due to Wife's Health and Skill Mismatch Concerns

I have been transferred to a new location in India for the past four months. I am 54 years old. Unfortunately, my wife is not comfortable with the climate of this new state, and her sinusitis has worsened due to the increased humidity.

Request for Job Relocation

I am looking to submit a request letter for job relocation. Do we need to attach any medical documents from doctors to support our case?

Additionally, should I include my father's perspective? He resides in a place near the location to which we are seeking the transfer.

Furthermore, should I mention that my current role does not align with my skill set, which differs from my existing expertise, or is the medical condition of my wife sufficient grounds for consideration?

Hi, you can write a request letter for transfer on a humanitarian basis. Attach your spouse's medical record/certificate as a supporting document. You can also mention that your aged father is alone, and this transfer will enable you to take care of him as well.

Lastly, regarding your statement, "current location is not utilizing my skills which are completely different from the skills that I already possess," I suggest not including this in your letter. It might backfire. Employers' perceptions can vary, and they might think you were paid for no work or less work. So, it's better to avoid that point.

As suggested by our member, you may submit your request, highlighting your spouse's and father's problems that you are currently facing. Who knows, your employer may consider your case favorably on compassionate grounds.
