Feeling Stuck and Harassed at My Bank Job: How Should I Handle My Resignation and Show-Cause Notice?

Munna2
Dear Sir/Madam,

I've been facing mental harassment due to the issue below. I need your respective suggestions and advice.

Promotion Concerns

I have been working in a private bank for 6 years, where I joined as a Senior Manager. Typically, it takes 3-4 years to get promoted to the next level. Unfortunately, even after 5 years, I have not been promoted. In the 6th year, I delivered outstanding performance and expected to be promoted, but to my surprise, I did not receive the long-overdue promotion. None of my supervisors have provided an explanation for this.

Audit Inquiry

In June, considering my financial obligations and the need for a change, I contemplated moving to another organization. On the 6th, my group head visited, and I shared my concerns with him. That same night, I received an email from our central audit department, inquiring about any additional income sources apart from my salary. I responded that I have no other income sources.

Two days later, the same audit person emailed me, questioning a business named "Munna Export Import Institute" and why its financials were not disclosed to the bank. I clarified that "Munna Export Import Institute" was just a Facebook page created in 2015 before I joined the bank in 2016. It was used for bookmarking new words and terminologies. The page had no business activities, and it had not been accessed in the last 5 years.

Resignation and Show-Cause Notice

On June 27th, I informed my supervisors about my intention to leave the organization due to a good offer elsewhere. They initiated negotiations, but unfortunately, they did not work out. Consequently, I decided to resign from the bank on June 29th.

On June 29th, I received a show-cause notice citing the issue of the Facebook page and alleging it as an undisclosed business. In response, I reiterated that it was not a business page and asked for proof of any income generated.

I have not received any response to date, and my resignation request has been pending for 45 days. I have an offer from another organization to join on September 27th.

Please advise on the next steps.

This is a complex situation. Since the resignation site is closed, you cannot submit your resignation online. Please send a hard copy of your resignation, either through personal delivery or by registered post with acknowledgment due. It cannot be denied.

Regarding the merit of your issue, nobody seems to be understanding the facts, and therein lies the problem. In banks, the unions are strong, so I suggest requesting the local leaders to intervene. If nothing works out, you may have to involve the local Labour Officer. Please be prepared to write to him.

Since you have already resigned from the bank, you can go ahead and join the new company. Send your resignation through email and also through a hard copy to the bank and keep an acknowledgment with you. The resignation should be as per the terms and conditions of your employment with the bank. Since you know that you have not done any business during your work with the bank, then you don't have to worry.
