Hi,
One of my colleagues in my ex-company misused my relieving letter as he left the organization without serving the notice period. He used the soft copy of my relieving letter to edit it with his details and used it at his next company. This issue came to light when he was caught by my ex-company during his background verification, and they also discovered that he had used my relieving letter as a template.
Now, my ex-company is providing negative feedback for me, stating that I misused my relieving letter to assist my colleague. I tried to explain to them that I was not aware of his intentions initially. However, their position is that I should have refrained from sharing it with anyone, whether or not I was aware of his intentions, as it is a confidential document provided to me.
How should I handle this situation?
