Seeking Career Growth in HR: Is a Distance Law Degree Worth It for Professional Advancement?

HRAnjali
Good evening to all the learned members! I am an MBA (HR) with approximately 5.5 years of experience. I want to grow and polish myself more in this field. Would earning a law degree through distance learning add any advantage to my professional growth? I have learned that distance LLB is not approved by the Bar Council of India. Alternatively, should I educate myself on labor laws through books and articles? Kindly shed some light on this and guide me. Thank you all in advance for your invaluable suggestions.

Dear Anjali, you have acquired an MBA degree already. Therefore, the educational courses you pursue hereafter would be value-added rather than primary. Additionally, you are planning to build your career in the field of HR, not law. Hence, whether through a regular course or correspondence course, the degree in law does not hold significance. Its recognition by the Bar Council of India is also irrelevant.

Apart from those who pursue careers in the legal field, a law degree always complements the primary profession. Whether one works in HR, Commercial, or Finance departments, legal knowledge enhances the decision-making abilities of a manager.

All the best!

Doing a suitable diploma/certificate course in labor laws, if available, might be a good value addition.
