Facing Termination After Helping During Crisis: Can They Do This Without a Reason?

pankaj-barthwal
I have been working in a private organization for the last two years. During the company's financial crisis, we helped by taking sabbatical leave and accepting a salary cut. However, the new management is now forcing me to sign a one-year contract and cancel the appointment letter issued to me when I joined the organization. When I raised queries about this, they sent me a termination letter.

Please advise on what I should do.

No company can terminate the services of a permanent employee without a valid and concrete reason. So, you need not worry. Do not accept any contract letter because you have already received an appointment letter, which itself is a contract of employment. Please discuss this with your HR representative or your reporting officer.

Today, HR/management has blocked my official email ID, and they are not replying to my emails in which I asked for the reason for termination.

Mr. Pankaj, please submit an application to the nearest Assistant Commissioner of Labour under the Industrial Disputes Act for your reinstatement with full back wages, as you have been illegally terminated without following the principles of natural justice.

You should immediately file a case with the labor office against your termination.
