Survey by Linkedin: Various types of discrimination exist - 85% of Indian Women Miss out on Raise, Promotion

Dear all, In today's Times of India, there is a news report on the survey conducted by Linkedin on the subject mentioned above. The scanned copy of the news is attached to this post. The survey is on gender discrimination. But then what about other forms of discrimination like caste, religion, language, etc? Various types of discrimination exist in Indian workplaces.

Nevertheless, the malaise lies much deeper. Mere training the employees on what is workplace discrimination and how to avoid it is not sufficient. It has to begin much earlier. Parents should teach their children what is discrimination and what negative impact it causes on society.

Equality is a value and teaching this value should be a part of parental grooming. Unfortunately, while grooming the children, parents pass on to the next generation the biases and prejudices that they inherit from their parents. How to break this evil cycle was a challenge to humanity and it is there today also.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
