How can we give a memorable experience to the fresh talent we hired in order to retain and motivate them?

---

As an HR professional, providing a memorable experience for newly hired talent is crucial for their retention and motivation. Here are some effective strategies to achieve this goal:

1. Onboarding Experience: Ensure a comprehensive and engaging onboarding process that introduces new hires to the company culture, values, and their roles. Personalized welcome kits or messages can make them feel valued and excited to be part of the team.

2. Mentorship Programs: Pair new employees with experienced mentors who can guide them, offer support, and help them navigate their roles within the organization. This not only fosters learning but also creates a sense of belonging.

3. Continuous Learning Opportunities: Provide access to training, workshops, and development programs to help new hires enhance their skills and knowledge. This investment in their growth demonstrates that the organization is committed to their long-term success.

4. Recognition and Feedback: Regularly recognize and appreciate the contributions of fresh talent. Constructive feedback and praise for their achievements can boost their morale and motivation to excel in their roles.

5. Career Path Planning: Engage new employees in discussions about their career aspirations and growth opportunities within the company. Setting clear goals and pathways for advancement can keep them motivated and committed to their professional development.

By focusing on creating a positive and engaging experience for new talent, organizations can not only retain them but also inspire them to perform at their best.

Dear Swati,

To give a memorable experience to the freshly hired employees, you may institute a "Formal Mentoring Programme" in your company. Please note that I am suggesting "Formal Mentoring" and not "Informal Mentoring" or "Buddy Programme."

However, instituting a formal mentoring programme is no easy task. It requires the development of various mechanisms. Often, companies initiate mentoring programs, but they lose momentum over time because of inadequate monitoring.

Formal mentoring can help build a bond between newly joined employees and the organization. Even if employees leave the company, they may still speak positively of their experience. Creating positive advocates for the company is a challenging but rewarding endeavor.

I have been providing insights on formal mentoring for several years. You can visit the following links to learn more on the subject:
