Forklift Operators with LMV Licenses in West Bengal: How to Ensure Compliance and Safety?

Hi, I want to know the actual procedure for forklift operators because our operators have LMV licenses. In West Bengal, there is no separate license issued from the RTO for safety measures. Therefore, there is a need to correct and authorize the license. Please suggest to us.

I doubt whether forklift operation requires a specific license. Forklifts are typically used within warehouses, so an ordinary LMV license might be sufficient to operate them. However, it would be wise to check with the forklift manufacturer regarding the licensing requirements for operating forklifts.

As per my understanding, a forklift falls under the category of industrial use machines. For operating a forklift, the driver must have a commercial license, as using a forklift within premises, including the precincts, requires proper certification. It is advisable to verify with the local authority (factory or labor) to obtain a clear understanding of the regulations surrounding forklift operation.
