Can I use sick leave for casual reasons?

I have sick leave available, but my casual leaves are zero as I have already used them. Can I use sick leave for casual reasons?

Rules for paid leaves

I also want to know what the rule is for paid leaves. In my company, paid leaves are allowed only when you take 3 or more days off. For 1 or 2 days, I cannot take paid leave. Is there any rule like this? I need answers to both questions as it will be very helpful for me.

Thanks in advance.

Leave management and company policies

Leave management of a company depends upon the leave policy of a company. Companies that provide CL, SL, and EL have policies and procedures regarding leave entitlement, frequency of leave availed, accumulation limits, and other related aspects.

Casual Leave (CL)

Generally, CL allowed by a company for employees is intended to address unexpected personal emergencies and can be taken for a minimum of half a day and a maximum of 2 days. Any unutilized portion of CL expires automatically at the end of the year.

Sick Leave (SL) and Earned Leave (EL)

On the other hand, unutilized SL and EL can be carried forward to the following year. SL is designed to safeguard your salary during periods of illness. Similarly, EL in some companies may be allotted for 5 or 3 consecutive days.

If you have already used up your CL, you may utilize SL for illness-related absences, but it is essential to inform your company about your unavailability after taking leave - this is the required procedure.
