Can we create continuous id's along with permanent followed by Intern and contract Employee ID

Hi Guys,
Really very good website to clear our quires from professionals.
I joined in the startup company it's a 3 months old.
Is there any problem if we create continuous id for all the employees(Contract, intern and permanent) variation will be shown in type of employment. I mean company may vary like it is technical or non technical like that.

In deed the Employee Number has to be continuous so that the total inductions thus far is easily computed.
