Is It Okay to Use Continuous IDs for All Employee Types in a Startup?

Hi, this is a really good website to clear our queries with professionals. I have recently joined a startup company that is just 3 months old. I am wondering if it would be an issue if we create a continuous ID for all employees (contract, intern, and permanent), with the variation shown in the type of employment. By this, I mean that the company may vary, for example, between technical and non-technical roles.

Indeed, the Employee Number has to be continuous so that the total number of inductions thus far can be easily computed.
