How Can I Help My Dad Who Was Suddenly Fired as a Security Guard During Lockdown?

Mayank Devsali
Hello Friends,

My name is Mayank. I'm living in Dehradun. My father was fired from his job during this lockdown period without any reason or notice from the employer's side, just only one call saying not to come on duty from the next day. My father worked as a Security Guard. Please advise me on what I should do.

Employment Source and Action Steps

Was he employed through the Ex-servicemen Board or through any security agency? If it is through the Sainik Welfare Board, then make a complaint to the Board. Also, did the telephone call come from the client or the security agency? If it is the client, then request the agency to deploy him elsewhere. But if it is from the agency itself, then you may probably look for another agency. At the same time, raise a dispute with the agency.

Direct Employment as a Security Guard

If he was employed directly as a security guard in a shop or commercial establishment, then you can approach the Labour Department and submit a complaint. If the service period extends more than 240 days, then there is definitely a cause of action, and you can seek legal recourse. However, if he was working in the household sector, you may leave it and try elsewhere. Nonetheless, it can be said that ex-servicemen are in demand.
