Hi Seniors, Please advice me to handle the situation
We are shutting one business unit due to low sales and business and thus are laying off staff of that unit by giving them notice as per their employment contract with them. There is one female staff who is in a family way and expecting delivery in Feb 20 . Also officially she has not declared pregnancy
and would be planning her Maternity leave somewhere in Dec or in Jan.
Unfortunately, we dont have any position available in the organisation where her skills can be utilized otherwise she could have been absorbed
Since the maternity act is stringent and the matter is sensitive so please advice can the service be terminated or it can be retained regardless of fact that we dont have any work for her.
