Crafting a Leave Policy in Maharashtra: Should Sick Leave Be Included Despite Not Being Mandatory?

Hello Everyone!

I need guidance on the formation of a leave policy for my organization in Maharashtra. I was planning to allocate 15 Earn Leave, 8 Sick Leave, and 8 casual leaves. However, according to the Maharashtra Shop and Establishments Act, Sick leaves are not mandatory. I am not convinced about canceling Sick leave. Kindly guide me on this matter.

Hi,

Any leave entitlement provided to employees beyond the statutory limit is okay and up to the employer. So if your employer is willing to provide additional sick leave, that will be okay.
