Career after dismissal - dismissed for wrong bills - was unaware of difference between rental entitlement and rental allowance

I am an MBA Finance graduate working in a public sector bank for three years. Recently, I am facing turmoil in my job. I have been staying in a PG-type accommodation since it is not my home state and my first posting. I have been paying a rent of 5800/- plus the electricity bill. As per the bank's policy, I was allowed to claim a maximum of 8000/- as a rental allowance. As a beginner, I was unaware of the difference between rental entitlement and rental allowance. Therefore, I was claiming the full amount of 8000/- on the PG bill. Now, the bank has started scrutinizing rental bills and decided to dismiss employees submitting incorrect bills. I had no idea that this was such a serious misconduct, and now I am in trouble. I am very new to the industry and in my late 20s. Kindly advise me on what my options are if I am dismissed.

I'm finding the job routine with no rewards, improvements, or challenges. I was already looking for a change and suddenly landed in this trouble. Kindly help me understand what my career prospects would be if I were dismissed. Can I find employment in the private sector, particularly in the Finance/Marketing industry?

I have not lost my zeal. I want to rebuild my career, hone my skills, and pursue certificate courses in business analytics, data analytics, market research, etc. Considering my age (28), please provide me with your best advice on how to rebuild my career after this setback.

Everything depends on the remarks on the experience certificate that your bank will issue to you after the dismissal. If the employment certificate is "neutral" then there is no need to worry as such. When government employees are removed on disciplinary grounds, not necessarily are the reasons for their dismissal mentioned in the employment certificate unless the offense committed is grave or the offense falls under the purview of "moral turpitude".

If you get the certificate with negative remarks, then it will nullify your career in the bank. I say so because there is no point in showing this certificate to your prospective employers. If you show this type of certificate to your prospective employers, with the obvious reference to your questionable integrity, I am afraid that they will consider your candidature. In such a case, it's better not to mention your employment in the bank and start applying as a fresher!
