Should a UK Company Offer Night Shift Allowance for 6 pm to 10:30 pm in India?

Hi all,

We work the 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm IST shift in India. Should the organization provide a night shift allowance from 6 pm to 10:30 pm? It's a UK company.

Night Shift Allowance Inquiry

Payment of an allowance to employees who work the night shift is specific to the company's employee welfare policy. As far as labor laws are concerned, no law mandates that night-duty personnel should receive an allowance. Therefore, you may approach your company officials or the HR department and inquire about the night-duty allowance.

By the way, if the afternoon shift ends at 22:30 hours, then the employees are not working even half of the night. In that case, what makes them think they are eligible for the night-shift allowance?

Please confirm night shift allowances if the employees perform their duties from 3.30 pm to 1.30 am?
