Request for Participation in English Language Tests

A student from Bangladesh, currently pursuing an MA in Applied Linguistics in the UK, approached me for assistance. I discovered a website that I found quite useful for assessing my own knowledge. Our daughter in the UK and my brother in India also took the tests. Based on this, I have hypothesized that individuals who have studied in an English medium from an early age will perform better on these tests compared to those who have studied in their vernacular. Additionally, those who have studied English as a language in higher education and those who regularly read newspapers, listen to the radio, or watch TV programs in English are likely to score higher.

Hence, I would greatly appreciate it if members of CiteHR could spend a few minutes taking the tests and provide me with the results via Private Message. The information you provide will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and only aggregated results will be shared on CiteHR.

Background Information Required

Please also include some general information about your background:
1. Since what age did you study in an English medium?
2. Do you communicate in English with colleagues at work?
3. Did you study English as a language in your degree course?
4. Do you read newspapers and note unfamiliar words?

Here is the link to the website: https://www.arealme.com/vocabulary-size-test/en/. Kindly take only the following tests:
- Commonly Misspelled Words Quiz

Thank you in advance.

The online test would help everyone to know where they stand as far as English is concerned.

Very interesting tests that could also help you further in competitive exams.

Thank you for taking the initiative. The quality of English in India is far from satisfactory. This lack of quality is a result of the apathy shown towards self-improvement. It is not a question of whether one has studied in an English medium school or a vernacular medium. I have encountered individuals with poor English skills despite having studied in English medium schools. Conversely, I have also met individuals with excellent English skills who studied in local languages.

What truly matters is continuous learning and improvement. When people become complacent, not even a deity can change them!

In any case, I will take the test; however, I believe these resources will be more beneficial for my children. I will also share the link with them.

Thank you,
