Time difference calculation between in and out time (from biometric) of employees in excel?

Nissar5346
I receive an employee in & out report from the biometric system. For example, 18:46 represents the in-time and 23:57 represents the out-time in Excel format.

I need to calculate the difference between these two times in Excel. Can you please help me out?

Dear Nissar,

Use the following procedure:

a) Select the cell. After selecting, right-click your mouse.

b) Select "Format Cells". When you do that, a new window emerges.

c) In the new window, in the category section, select "Time".

d) When we select "Time", on the right side, we get "types", select 1330 (or 24-hour clock time format).

e) Do this for both windows.

f) Using the subtraction formula, you will be able to calculate the time difference.

Thanks,

Dineshsir,

Thank you for this kind help. However, when I have an entry like:
- In time: 19:33
- Out time: 00:02

This formula doesn't work; it gives a result like "######". In short, I want to know if there is any formula that works even after day changes.

Thank you in advance and hope to get a solution.

Dear Nissar,

Those using a biometric device for recording attendance for the purpose of wages calculation are required to use software for the calculation of attendance and overtime. The Excel sheet calculation is difficult because of the following reasons:

a) Real-time IN & Shift timing
b) Shift ending & real-time Out

The date & time change occurs at midnight, and shift duty change calculation becomes problematic.
