How to Explain Cash Salary from a Vendor Job to HR for Background Check?

I worked in a government organization for 3 years through a vendor (who supplies resources to government organizations). The vendor does not have any dedicated staff; the owner is the only person who manages all the resources (no website). After that company, I managed to secure a job in an MNC where I worked for 6 years. Now, I would like to change my job.

I have the offer letter and payslips from the first company, but I don't have the Form 16 or bank statements as I used to receive the salary in cash envelopes. How can I explain this to HR to process the BCG? Could you please assist me with this?

Dear Raja, not having possession of Form 16 should not be a cause for concern. Were you an income tax payer? If not, then why would your company have issued Form 16? Secondly, if you have paid income tax, you may provide a copy of the tax return only if asked for.

As far as payment of salary in cash is concerned, you may explain that you had requested salary through the bank; however, you were informed that disbursement of salary in cash was legally acceptable during that time.
