Job Interview Dilemma: How to Handle No Response and Negotiation Challenges?

saurabh-patil1
Recently, I had an interview at Cushman & Wakefield (Big 4 Real Estate) in Mumbai. I have been unemployed for 6 months. Currently, I am pursuing an Executive MBA from a top B-School in Mumbai. I have around 5 years of work experience in Business Development, Sales, and Account Management. However, I have not heard from them in a week.

The interviewer might not have agreed on a few points:
1. My requirement of having Saturdays and Sundays off for my Executive MBA.
2. Less contact with developers.
3. My salary expectation of 45k in hand, compared to my last drawn salary of 31.6k.

Understanding the Recruitment Process

When the candidature of a candidate aligns with the requirements, recruiters or those in the recruitment department typically start following up. Based on your description, it seems that there may be other candidates competing for the position, and the company could be considering them as well. Additionally, there might not be an urgent need for the company to hire at the moment. Companies tend to be more flexible when there is a pressing requirement. It's possible that due to the specific requirements you have outlined, the company is exploring other potential candidates.

Time Since Interview

You mentioned that you "recently got interviewed," but you did not specify how much time has passed since the interview. It might be advisable to continue your job search actively without overly relying on this particular company.

Maintaining Professional Communication

Lastly, please note that this is a professional forum. Your post reads informally, as if you were chatting with a friend on a messaging app. Especially when seeking advice from senior professionals, it is essential to maintain a formal tone. Not all interviewers appreciate a casual approach from candidates. Your comfort in assuming informality with the seniors here suggests a deeply ingrained informal communication style. This could potentially be a reason for the lack of progress. It is crucial to understand the boundaries between formal and informal communication.

All the best!

Reasons for not receiving further communication from the company have been analyzed by you. The concerned company is well-established and will adhere to their established rules. Your requirements due to pursuing an Executive MBA may not align with this company, as their operations also run on holidays. What was the position you applied for? It may be necessary for you to adjust your job search strategy. Additionally, your style of presenting your inquiries is not suitable for a professional forum.

C&W is a big organization with diversified business verticals in which they conduct business across the globe.

They may have a huge candidate database and strict hiring policies. It is better to have appropriate follow-up and an approach to succeed.

Reasons for Delayed Response from the Company

The further call from the company may have several reasons:

1. Not yet finalized.
2. Not urgently required.
3. Not selected for the position.

One generally gets to know at the end of the interview by understanding the body language of the interviewer. Whatever the case may be, each interview you attend is a learning point. If you are truly earnest, go through the postings of members, which will enlighten you on many things you have failed to realize.

Do not draw boundaries for yourself; it will become an enclosure for you. This is not the end but a beginning. Without losing heart, with conviction, you can make it this time.
