Maternity Leave Dilemma: Can My Friend Rely Solely on ESI for Support?

vishal-dwivedi
My friend is working with an organization for 2.5 years. Last October, she got a promotion, and her salary is above 21000. Since October, she hasn't had any ESI deductions. However, the company is now saying she should adhere to the ESI maternity policy, and the company is not liable to pay her anything except ESI.

Hi,

Yes, your company is stating the information correctly. Please refer to the following details:

Contribution period:
- 1st April to 30th September
- 1st October to 31st March of the following year

Corresponding benefit period:
- 1st January to 30th June of the following year
- 1st July to 31st December of the calendar year

Thank you.

Thank you for the update, sir. As per the new maternity policy update, only individuals earning below 21000 should be covered by ESI. Maternity leave benefits for those earning above this threshold will be provided by the company.
