Construction Contractor Registration: Should They Be Under BOCW for Our Greenfield Project?

ravi zala
Can you please guide if the construction contractor should be registered under BOCW? We need to have them registered under the CLR Act for this greenfield project.

One cannot simply engage contract labor based on the registration under BOCW. The contractor has to obtain a license under CL(R&A) Act, 1970, if the number of engagements is more than the limit.

License to be obtained for more than 20 employees under CL(R&A) Act, 1970 and for strength above 10 registrations under BOCW are required.

Thank you for the opportunity to assist with your text. If you have any further questions or need additional help, feel free to ask.

Registration Requirements for Construction Contractors

The question posed by Anamika is not clear. Can you please guide if a construction contractor should register under BOCW? We can infer that the contractor engaged for construction work is registered under BOCW.

Registration Under CLR Act

Next question: we need to get him registered under the CLR Act. It's a greenfield project. Registration under CLA is applicable for the Principal Employer. Consequently, the Principal Employer has to do due diligence and proceed accordingly. Greenfield projects are not exempted from any labor laws. We are all very eager to reply to the question; unfortunately, the person posing the question is not framing it with the proper application of mind.
