Can Part-Time Employees Get ESI & EPF Coverage If They Already Contribute Elsewhere?

deepak536
Kindly guide me: If an employee is working part-time, can he be covered under ESI & EPF compliances even if he is working in another establishment where all ESI & EPF contributions are already being made?

Yes, he needs to be covered since for both acts, an employee is an employee whether he is part-time, full-time, temporary, or a contract worker.

Hi Deepak,

One of the best ways to learn and become a better decision-maker is through case studies. There are several case studies on the links given below:

Dear Deepak,

If your establishment is covered under ESI and EPF, then all the employees, irrespective of their nature (contract, casual, temporary, permanent, or other), are to be covered. They are either through the contractor or in the absence of the principal employer.

Sir, please don't isolate those small employees. Ask him if he was already covered or not. If not, make him a beneficiary for all the above schemes.
