Hello sir, I have a question. I am working as an HR/Admin in an IT company. Can we pay employees' salaries based on the company's working days? If this is possible, please share the notification and any other supporting documents.
If you are working in the IT company, please refer to the Shops and Establishment Act of your state. Under the provisions of this act, after six days of work, an employee is eligible to get a weekly off on the seventh day. This weekly off is a paid one. You cannot consider a weekly off as an absence and start deducting the salary.
Please refer to the appointment letters issued to your employees. Have you engaged employees on monthly salary or daily salary? I presume you must have engaged them on monthly salary.
For employees engaged on monthly salary, you have to include weekly off as already stated by Mr. Dinesh. You will be governed by the applicable Shops & Commercial Establishments Act.
