Struggling with Shift Scheduling Compliance in a New HR Role: What Steps Should I Take?

RANDEEP (HR)
Dear HR's,

Good afternoon! I have just joined an MNC company as HR. Here, employees are not adhering to the shift schedule like G/A/B/C. Now management has assigned me the task of implementing this in the factory premises. I need some guidelines for compliance purposes. What steps do we need to follow, and what would be the pros and cons of this matter?

A quick response in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

With best wishes,

Dear Randeep, you have mentioned that the employees in your company do not adhere to the shift timings. However, you have not specified what exactly happens. Who makes the shift roster, when is it made, and how many days in advance is it prepared? What is the means of communication for the shift roster to the employees? What are the shift timings, and are the shifts rotated? Is the policy of rotation applicable to all, or are certain individuals given exemptions? Do employees report late for their duties? For their late arrivals, do you follow the standard rules, or do you have your own set of rules?

There are many questions associated with your post. Please provide complete information. Suggestions can be given only thereafter.

Thanks,

Dear Randeep,

Since you said you joined recently, first be a part of your employees, and you will understand the reason for not adhering to the shift.
1) Try to know whether it was informed during employment.
2) Ask the shift supervisor if he has the information from the operator, but it may look like indiscipline to you as you don't have that info.
3) Call the supervisor and say the shift list has to be submitted as it is necessary.

After your feedback, I may write once again to you.
