Company Closed Before Sending My Experience Letter – What Should I Do Now?

Hi, I worked for XXX Engineering Services for 1.5 years, and I have proof of employment. They told me they would mail my experience letter after 10 days, but it has been 5 months now, and I haven't received any mail or reply from the organization. Unfortunately, the company has now closed. I am unsure of what steps to take next. Can you please advise me on what to do?

Dear Dheeraj, your exit from the company closely followed the closure of the company. In that case, you could have been a little more cautious and approached this forum within a month of your exit. Now that the company is closed, issuing a backdated experience letter is not legally tenable.

Anyway, have you spoken to the MD of the company? What did he say? If he is avoiding your calls, then approach the Labour Officer under whose jurisdiction your company fell and explain your problem. Do not disclose to him that the company is now closed. Just provide him with the MD's name and number.

Please note that the Labour Officer is a government-appointed authority and is different from a labor lawyer. The latter is a professional who works in an individual capacity.

Hi, for 1.5 years of experience, you may not require experience certificates for your future. HR will normally not look for it.

Keep a copy of your last bank transaction from the company. Your appointment and this bank document are sufficient to prove your employment. If you are being specifically asked for the document, convey to them that the company was closed and you could not collect it.
