Understanding Mandatory Meetings Under the Sexual Harassment Act: Are They Required Without Complaints?

I want to know the period of the meeting to be held in the organization under The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. If there is no complaint raised by anyone, it is compulsory to hold the meeting.

There is no mention of the Minutes of the Meeting of the Internal Committee as per the act. However, the members of the Committee should meet at least four times a year according to the company's service rules to:

- Provide and maintain a safe working environment at the workplace
- Organize two or more workshops annually to sensitize the employees, in line with the provisions of the Act, and conduct orientation programs for members of the Committee
- Conduct counseling sessions on issues of adjustment and harassment
- Prepare an annual report

The law does not specify the number of meetings. However, a quarterly meeting is recommended to review the overall culture, environment, sensitization sessions, behavioral issues, etc.

The IC should work out various ways to improve work culture, behaviors, skills, plan training sessions, etc.
