Worried About Being Blacklisted by TCS Due to Health Issues? Here's My Situation and Need for Advice

Hi, my name is Khan. I joined TCS on July 15th. However, after three days of starting my job, I began experiencing health issues, including typified symptoms. The doctor recommended that I take a long rest due to my poor health condition. This situation has prevented me from rejoining TCS, and I am concerned that they may blacklist me or consider me absconding if I fail to return. I have already informed my manager, and they have put my onboarding process on hold. Please advise me on how to handle this situation, as I hope to rejoin TCS in the future.

Dear Mohd Naeem Khan, it is unfortunate that you hardly got a job in a branded company like TCS and that you suffered from typhoid and some other ailment. However, typhoid is a curable disease. The recovery could take a little longer owing to both ailments put together. Nevertheless, why you have written, "So that's why I cannot join TCS" is not understood. You could have asked for leave on medical grounds. It could be without pay, but that does not matter. However, what made you develop a rock-solid belief that you cannot join TCS? After mentally dissociating from TCS, you have gone further and asked how to "rejoin"!

Talk to HR, put up an application for leave, and submit a medical certificate from a certified medical practitioner. Hopefully, TCS authorities could show clemency.

Thank you so much for your reply. The reason behind my concern is that it's a night shift, and I cannot work during the night due to health issues. I have already requested a shift change once I recover, but they said it's a night shift job because it's a US process in finance accounts. Right now, I cannot join and start working again during the night shift. I know it's a reputable brand, which is why I fear that if I cannot join this time, they might not consider me for future opportunities. I have an offer from another company, and they are willing to wait until I am 100% fit, but it is a small MNC company. Please provide me with a solution so that they do not blacklist me for future opportunities.

What are you really suffering from? Why can't you work night shifts? Did you not know that you would be working night shifts before joining? Even in the future, do you only want day shift work? What does "I am suffering typified" mean? Do you suffer from typhoid as Dinesh Divekar has assumed?

I have been working in the IT sector for many years, and I have never seen an organization blacklist an employee because they were unable to join due to health reasons. Blacklisting or declaring an employee as absconding only occurs when the individual does not inform the organization and disappears.

Blacklisting occurs when an employee is involved in activities of moral turpitude. Organizations blacklist employees due to their anti-organizational activities. The case at hand is not serious enough to merit blacklisting, and the originator of the post is "tilting at windmills."

Be calm, take things as they are, and provide the correct reason for taking time in joining after a short break. Produce a medical certificate, and there is no need to panic. Never get into emotional stress before starting a job. If this is not your first job, you should check your health for a future healthy life.

I am a TCS employee, suggesting that you kindly ask your HR to move to the RMG department. RMG stands for Resource Management department. They will request your updated CV, then they will search for a job and align an interview in another department or process. You can also mention your location preference. Additionally, as per TCS policy, an employee can take a one-year unpaid leave on medical grounds and then rejoin. You can also take advantage of medical insurance up to Rs. 12 lakh.
