Salary - as per the recent schedule basic (5236)+VDA(4582) = 9818?

I would like to know about the salary structure of labor and permanent employees in our company. They are paying 9818 as basic, while my salary is 20,000 per month. When I asked them about the EPF rules and labor laws, my basic should be 10,000. However, I have not received a clear answer from them. They are saying that as per the recent schedule, the basic (5236) + VDA (4582) = 9818. I don't understand the meaning of 9818. Can anyone help me regarding this?

"When I ask them, as per the EPF rules and labor law, my basic should be 10,000/-."

Whoever told you this has given you incorrect information. There is no labor law on the fixation of basic as a percentage of the gross salary. If your basic is decided as 9,818, it is okay.

Dear Mr. Yokshith,

Your Basic & VDA is as per the Applicable Minimum Wages with specific reference to your Industry. Please go through the relevant notification before concluding that the company has erred. The relevant law governing Basic & VDA is the Minimum Wages Act notification applicable to your industry.
