Employer asking to pay for missing transaction amount before exit?

citizen_abdul
Hi, I am working in a telecom field as a coordinator and preparing all the reports. i have given resignation on 15-May-2017. But my manager is saying clear the Dues for which i am not responsible because i take only reports from system. The actual money is handled by other bottom line staffs. not for the missing transaction amount my manager is telling i have to pay and exit. Its like my one year salary. what should i do? From my side i didnt have any related with money but only take transaction reports. please suggest. Thank you.

Dear Abdul,

You were responsible for the taking out the transaction reports from the system. Was your job just to take printouts and nothing else? Were you responsible for checking the transaction and identifying the discrepancy? Were you responsible for the reconciliation of the transactions? For what time period, the discrepancy in the transactions has been discovered? The way you have written the post, it indicates that you would like to absolve yourself by laying the blame at the doorstop of the field staff. How far will it be acceptable to the senior authorities of your company that depends on the nature of the case.

Anyway, you may put up application for conducting the domestic enquiry to ascertain the culpability. This is the only way to show that your hands were clean.

Thanks,
