How Can We Amicably Resolve Groupism Issues in Our Company Without Termination?

There is an issue in my company of groupism, where people are forming different teams with a designated boss for each team. This situation has led to numerous grievances among the teams. I would appreciate some suggestions on how to take necessary actions to address this issue. Unfortunately, terminating anyone is not an option in the current circumstances. We need to find a solution that can be handled amicably.

Though your post is short, overall, I find a failure in leadership. It is leadership that is responsible for weaving a team together. In your case, the strands of the thread are not just loose but are also going astray. Therefore, the question arises: have you discussed this problem with the leadership? What is their take on this?

Your leadership might not have explained what kind of culture they want and what their expectations are from the managers of the company.

Groupism has become a part of your organization's culture, and changing this culture is going to be an uphill task. This change will need the consent of your leadership. You may sit with him/her and discuss how the unhealthy culture of the company is hindering its growth. Some trainers may suggest conducting training programs on teamwork. However, be aware that the effects of these training efforts may not last long. Things could revert to the initial state in a week or fortnight.

Partially, problems like this arise due to the following reasons:

a) Lack of focus on performance

b) Lack of focus on results

c) Lack of focus on accountability

d) Lack of measurement of business ratios

As a simple solution, start conducting team games in your organization on the weekends. They will start communicating, sharing with each other, getting to know each other as individuals, which will have a positive effect on their behavior and work. It may not solve all the problems but will facilitate open communication among them.

Maybe it will be a first step for you to chalk out the future plan, as suggested above.

The worst thing to do while you're associated with an organization is to form groups or join a group. Remember that it's only when you join a group that you end up messing up with others, so quite obviously - if you stay away from groupism, you would avoid annoying a lot of people.

Your presentation shows that the firm is on the brink of disaster. The reasons might be:

1. A lenient view about the employer as well as management.
2. Weak administration.
3. There was no grievance settlement committee formed by the employer with employees and management as members.
4. There is no control or punishments laid on violated duty manual. So, tighten the disciplinary procedures.
