Minimum Wages for Office Boys in Delhi NCR: What Should You Expect?

AnuSoni
What are the minimum wages for an office boy in Delhi NCR?
Pan Singh Dangwal
Dear Member,

In order to calculate the Minimum Wages, the concept of NCR is not relevant. The Minimum Wages are state-oriented. Every state issues notifications regarding the updating of Minimum Wages, which can be based on industry, location, work category, etc.

However, in Delhi, the Office Boy (if he is not doing any clerical job) will fall under the "Unskilled" category, for which the current rate is Rs. 13,584/- (wef 01.04.2017).

Thank you.
AnuSoni
Thank you, Pan Singh.

Is this for government employees or private employees as well? What if the employee agrees to work for less than the minimum wage?
Srinath Sai Ram
Minimum Wages for Private Sector Employees

The minimum wages mentioned by Mr. Pan Singh are for private sector employees. You should provide basic registration of your company along with the type of industry and nature of activity carried out. You have been very casual in your approach.

Please note that the minimum wages mentioned by Mr. Pan Singh are payable irrespective of the employee in question agreeing to lesser wages. You can pay higher wages than the prescribed minimum wages. As an employer, you have to fulfill your basic duty of paying minimum wages.

Thank you, Srinath.

So, are the minimum wages the same for both temporary and permanent employees?
Srinath Sai Ram
Dear Anu Soni,

Minimum wages are applicable for all types/categories of employees based on the nature of work performed, designation, or category.

Thank you.
