Short-Term Employees and PF Registration: Do We Need to Register Them?

Dear Friends,

Just need to know, if any employee leaves the organization within 15-20 days, as an employer, do we need to register him/her for the PF? Your answers will be appreciated.

Even if an employee works for a day, a PF-covered employer is required to cover such an employee.

The pertinent question here is: are you paying salary to the employee who left service within 15-20 days? Is the employee's name reflected in your payroll for the respective month? Consequently, you are liable to make all statutory deductions from the salary without taking into consideration the length of service of an employee. If employees are leaving your company on a continuous basis within 15-20 days, please find out reasons for the same.
