Pregnant and Switching Jobs: Can I Get Maternity Leave at a New Company?

I am 4 months pregnant and working in an IT company. I have received an offer from another IT company. Will I be able to join that company and avail maternity leave?

In my current company, the notice period is 3 months. I am trying to negotiate it for a month so that I can join the new company by the end of next month. Is it possible for me to take maternity leave from mid/end of November in the new company?

First of all, you need to inform the other IT company to which you are joining about your pregnancy. There are very few companies that will like or allow an employee who will be going on 6 months leave soon after joining. Hiding this fact may create problems for you and could result in the termination of your contract, which is not beneficial for you.
Therefore, speak with your new employer and clarify this with them.

If you complete 80 days of working in an organization, you are entitled to Maternity Benefit. However, as mentioned, you need to inform your new employer before joining.
