Contract Labor Wages and HRA: How Should We Handle Client Requests?

Dear Sir,

As per the rules, we are to pay minimum wages to our contract laborers. However, the client is requesting to also include HRA in the wages sheet. Could you please provide me with the rules regarding contract labor and HRA?

The Maharashtra Minimum HRA Act is applicable to all organizations engaging 50 or more employees, all-inclusive. Even if a contractor does not have a manpower of 50 and deploys his workers at your organization to whom the act is applicable, you have to provide a minimum HRA of 5% on the sum of basic and DA.
